The Brief

One of the largest B2B Technology businesses in the world was looking for senior talent to join their Corporate Development team. Historically they faced challenges finding candidates who had the requisite soft skills to manage complex strategy initiatives across the business, alongside 10 – 12 years’ previous experience in Industrial Goods & Engineering projects, with an Industrial or Mechanical Engineering degree and a completed MBA. Prior to River Partnership’s engagement, it had taken more than 6 months of interviews with no successful placement and no promising candidate pipeline.

River Approach

We focused our search on international profiles at the Principal-level across the top 5 Management Consulting firms worldwide. Our qualification process focused on how the candidates had delivered on projects as well as identifying suitable profiles with a technical education and project experience. Our presence in the Strategy marketplace meant we had quick access to dozens of suitable candidates, most of whom had been pre-qualified with regards to their areas of interest, backgrounds and ambitions.

The Results

We presented a total of 7 candidate profiles, each with a mix of top-tier Consulting and Industry experience, from our global network of Strategy professionals. Each had over 10 years’ of commercial experience, a technical degree, MBA and relevant project experience. All 7 were invited to interview, with 2 going through to final interviews and 1 placement. The successful candidate started with the company 2 months sooner than their deadline, accelerating the delivery of business-critical projects on behalf of the Executive Committee.
